The Catholic mission is situated beside Gangtok-Sang road which goes through Rumtek. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny reached Martam on 4th August 1983.The foundation stone of the school was laid by Chief Minister late Nar Bahadur Bhandari on 27th February 1983. The land was donated by three leading individuals of the village for the construction of school. By September 1983, school started functioning as an English medium co-educational Catholic institution.

The school now conducts classes from Nursery to ICSE. Classes 11 and 12 have Commerce, Science and Arts streams. The Sisters have a hostel for the girls. There are 25 hostels managed by the local people, accommodating outstation students.
