The Holy Cross Montessory School is a Catholic institution managed by the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross. It is situated by the side of Palzor Stadium road. Bishop Eric Benjamin and Fr Victor Tucker SJ invited the Sisters to start a school at Gangtok. The Sisters arrived at Gangtok on 14th May 1979. The school started on 4th June 1979 with 130 students and 4 staff. It is a co-educational school. Fr Joseph Kunnath made arrangements for the Sisters to start a convent and Montessoy school here. Sr Shirley, the Principal and 11 teaching staff and 6 non-teaching staff take care of 401 students with motto ‘ Love and service‘.
